Our Approach

Our Program

Our program is built on the belief that personal development must encompass the total child through an evidence-based approach that embraces all social, academic, therapeutic and job readiness components. At Meliora, these elements are individualized for each student, with communication, self-determination, and independent living skills serving as integral components of the overall approach. Our goal is to support every student in maximizing their independence in all facets of their school experience, so that they can apply what they learn to the real world.

The interdisciplinary team at Meliora consists of administrators, teachers, instructional staff, and related service providers that pride themselves on building collaborative working relationships amongst each other, with families, school districts and all stakeholders involved in working toward successful outcomes for each student. Through regularly scheduled team meetings and ongoing communication focused on student progress, we create individualized academic and behavioral programs that are conducive to each student’s learning profile. We accomplish this through the following program components:

Educational & Therapeutic Programming:

  • Individualized Assessment & Programming
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Functional Behavioral Assessments & Interventions
  • Speech & Language Therapy, including Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Occupational & Physical Therapy

  • Community-Based Learning

Real-Life Learning in Real-World Settings

Our campus is designed to help students develop the practical skills they need for everyday life.

Facilities include:

  • Sensory rooms
  • A mock apartment with a bedroom, kitchen, laundry, and shower
  • Student-run businesses such as a coffee shop and mini mart

These immersive environments support learning beyond the classroom and help students apply what they’ve learned to the real world.
